The Gebze-Orhangazi-İzmir Highway which will reduce the transportation between Istanbul and İzmir from 9 hours to 3.5 hours has been 64% completed. Including the Izmit Gulf Transition and the connection paths ,there has been covered a long important distance in the project.
In Gebze -Gemlik section, where the construction work continues is 98% of the work, in Gebze -Orhangazi-Bursa 90%, Kemalpaşa -İzmir 88% completed. This means that the 64% of the project has been provided to materialize.The 40 km section between Altınova and Gemlik was opened to traffic on 21st of April ,2016.The project aims to complete the highway between Gebze-Bursa and Kemalpaşa-Izmir at the end of the year.
The tunnels and viaducts
The lectromechanic and covering works of the were completed and started operating on 21st of April. The concrete pavements and excavation support works are finished at the Selçukgazi and Belkahve Tunnels. While the top construction work continues ,the electricity and electromechanic work of the tunnel have been started. Within the project, there are 7 viaducts among 20 that are completed between Gebze and Bursa. The work continues for the rest 13 ones.
The Orhangazi Bridge which plays an important factor between the Gebze -İzmir Highway is going to be opened on 30th of June by President Erdoğan and Prime Minister Yıldırım. The isolation and paving work continues on the bridge.
