Located in the European side, Beyoğlu is an 8.76 sqm area surrounded by Şişli, Beşiktaş and Kağıthane districts in the north, and Golden Horn in the south, and Bosphorus in the east. The district is composed of 45 points and has no rural settlements anymore. Beyoğlu was home to one of the first settlements in Istanbul. The “Pera” neighbourhood which means “the other side” is still home to many, as well as an internationally recognized art school that operates since the Ottoman era. While the district itself has only 238,762 residents, more than a million tourists visit it daily. Since it is such a historical location, it also makes sense to protect old hotels in the area. The district has the second-highest volume of 4-star hotels in Istanbul.
